Someone was thinking

I was perusing the innernets and found out that someone thought up Knitting Cruises. Actually, it is Crafting Cruises, but you can click on your favorite craft and Bam! you find cruises to locales with knitting time worked in.

Can we say delightful?

So, this is the time to save up your pennies and buy some cheap airfare to whichever starting point and go!

It takes a village of knitters

Our fellow knitters in England have knit up a storm with various projects.

Twenty years and a whole lotta wool and dedication and you have a village.

Then the requests went out and people are knitting a boat.

Finally, a request for knitters went out from the medical trust and midwives for, well, knitting for babies in a different way.

I am still hard at work at perfecting my socks. That perfect fit, good yarn management that doesn't involve sweating bullets hoping you have just enough yarn to have closed-toe socks and an leg opening that is big enough to have your foot pass through is harder than it looks! However, I think that the sock bug is about to be squashed and a cardigan maybe on the horizon. Just in time for summer. Go figure.

I'm still working out some kinks on uploading pictures directly from Flickr and thus the really big picture of a pair of socks. Luckily (and I hope you agree), they are cute socks.

Stay warm and knit well.

nifty help

I found those two previous YouTube instructional videos and then I had to go back for more! If you are knitting an entrelac piece, you might want to learn how to Knit Backwards! I know that there is an entrelac scarf in my near future (when I have the sockbug squashed) and this will be great!

Mark your calendars!

At the meeting last night, I realized that a couple of dates need to be added to my calendar (and you might need them too!):

  • Feb 16th is the early bird sign-up for Knitters Connection. Check out the Knitters Mercantile website/store.
  • March 10th is our next meeting and that is a donation night for the personal hygeine item for the local Soup Kitchen. Also, that is Fun Night and bring a new knitting gadget/toy to show and tell.
  • April 26th is Earth Day at the Fairgrounds from 11-3.

We also Shared a Stitch (thanks Melinda!). The first one is a Twisted German Cast-On and the second one is a Rib Cable Cast-On. Just click on the names and you'll go to the right YouTube page to watch.

Stay dry and knit well.

sheep to shawl on the radio

I found this link on Ravelry and thought that you all might like it. I'm having sound issues (ok, somedays I have alot of issues, but today it is sound), but Day to Day is a family-friendly program on NPR. They did a focus on Extreme Crafts with a Sheep To Shawl as one of the crafts. I thought that some of us might like it.

OK, so on to knitting more socks.

Take care and knit well.

Hi Everyone

Hope to see you all soon

Figured it out

Hi everyone,
Thanks to Laura for helping me I think I finally figured this out. Hope to see everyone on Saturday at Jitterz for some coffee and lots of knitting. Hope everyone is staying warm. I plan to bring some of my projects that I have completed ( yes actually completed) with me on Saturday. Hope to see ya all there.

post-meeting update

After the meeting last night, I have added a couple of new links: Webs and The Knitter. Both websites are carrying the new Addi interchangable needles for about the same price ($150). The kit is needle sizes 5-14 US.

There is also going to be a Sticks and Stitches outing to a Blue Jackets game, Feb 21st (puck drops at 7). This is being put on by the Knitters Merch (link on side). For $30 you will receive a ticket, hotdog, popcorn, soft drink and a Blue Jacket's cap. Last year they had over a 100 knitters come out for it. If you are interested in going, your money needs to be at the Merch by the 1st of Feb. I know that Linda and Laura are going and many at the meeting sounded interested. If you are interested, shoot out an email to Becky.

Take care and knit well.

sock-o-rama

For the last few months, I have only been knitting socks. Forget scarves, blankets and anything else... if it ain't socks, it ain't happenin' at my house! So, in my great sock recipe search, I have come across this great sock registry.

This website will lead you other websites with free sock recipes that are really cute (and free)!

Trying to get time to blog?!

I am really having a hard time be able to knit with the holidays being so crazy. I do want to finish the Fair Isle sweater I started a while back before I get into to much new stuff. Also I just wanted to make sure everyone knows the meeting will start at 630 again next week due to having a speaker come on the grace haven project

Happy Epiphany!

Does anyone have any New Year's Knitting Resolutions that they would like to share? I have promised myself that I will Finish A Baby Blanket. I only have a few on needles currently, so one of them should do the trick! And a I have a few (only 3 pairs) of promised socks to finish, so that can be accomplished somewhat quickly. Somewhat is the operative word in that sentance. Hopefully this snow will keep me in the house and knitting like a fiend.

I'll see you all next week at guild!!!
